Are you concerned, as I am, about the direction our nation is headed? The government, using our money, is more in debt than
ever before in history, and is planning on spending trillions more which we don’t have, and they’re planning on
cutting Medicare by half a trillion dollars, all the while saying it’s broke already, since Congress has always spent
the money we’ve paid in, putting IOU’s in place of our payments. I could go on and on.
Well, the only consolation I can give you is that I’ve found 26 places in the Bible, ranging from Exodus
in the Old Testament, to Colossians in the New, that says “God is in charge.” Although we certainly can’t
see it right now, He has a plan. Looking just in the New Testament, which is our guide today, it says, speaking of God, “decided
beforehand which should rise and fall, and when.”
With our country being what it is morally, I’m reminded of how, time and again all through history,
Israel’s leaders have forgotten God in its good times, leading them astray, then the people repenting and God forgiving
them and destroying their enemies, bringing them back to prosperity, only to see them forget Him again, with this going on
over and over. How can God be so forgiving! And He will help us only when we do as the Israelites did…repenting and
getting back to God.
Our leader has said we “are not a Christian nation.” In context, he was saying we are not a nation
of any certain belief. But this nation was built on a belief in Jehovah, the Almighty God of all, and we’ve seen it
slide down the path of taking God out of the schools, then off public property, all the while accepting more and more things
that are clearly contrary to the Holy Bible.
Our great buildings in the United States Capitol, Washington, D.C., show many Biblical quotations and indications
of this country’s belief and honor to Jehovah God, and mark my words, there are going to be attempts to have these covered
or destroyed, and we have leaders who want the same thing…so their own consciences can be soothed…who will go
along with this sin.
What to do? We must pray that God will stop the travesty now going on among our leaders, who are being cheered
on by a Godless public…to give us leaders who want “In God We Trust,” not only to stay on our money, but
to overwhelm those who want this to be even more, a Godless Nation.
Is there anyone among our Congress or our Supreme Court, or anyone of authority who will call out for a Day
or Prayer? Or a Week? Or a Month of Prayer to save this nation?
As for you and me…let’s “pray without ceasing,” as is instructed in First Thessalonians
which is to say to have a prayerful attitude toward this and all things good.
We’re the first nation in history whose government has lasted 200 years, and we are well past 125 now.
Pray to God that our children and grandchildren will not grow up under leadership that hates our God.
I’ve noticed that some of my Conquest articles have taken on a new complexion since my wife
went to her new home. I don’t feel the same about passing from this life to the next. I like to use the
term “The Promise” that the Lord gives to everyone…that Christians will immediately be with loved
ones who’ve gone on, when our turn comes.
King David used that consolation we see in 2nd Samuel 12:23,
after his son by Bathsheba died; “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” And of course Jesus
showed the same comfort to us, as He hung on the Cross, when he told the thief hanging beside Him, who had become a believer
there, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
I’ve written about that in an earlier article, but for those of you who didn’t see it, I’ll give
my interpretation of those words by Christ. “Today” means now…assuring us that we won’t be
put in a waiting area until some time in the future. And “shalt thou be with me” means that He will go to
the same place with this person who’s dying at His side.
And the Bible clearly shows that the word “Paradise” and
“Heaven” are the same place. Revelation 2:7 is enough to convince us: “He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which
is in the paradise of God.” And the tree of life serves double duty, also indicating that we’ll eat the
best of foods in Heaven.
The only ones who
should fear death, are those of you who haven’t given your heart to the Lord. I beg you to take care of that,
at this very moment. It’s the only time you’re guaranteed.
