|PEOPLE FOLLOW THEIR LEADER
If you'll study history, both in the Bible and other works, people will follow
the path of their leader. It's best seen among God's chosen people, the Jews. From their first king, Saul, in the
11th century, all the way to their last king, Zedekiah, in the sixth century, there were 43 kings of Israel and Judah, ten
were good and 23 were evil, and in every case, their people went right along with their worshipping false gods and everything
that went with them, right down to sacrificing their own children to them.
Today, we're seeing this in our own leaders.
As they pass laws and show by their speech that such things as man-man and woman-woman marriages, along with homosexual practices,
are being adopted even in churches.
You'll also see in the Bible, how persons in Genesis lived for hundreds of years...Adam
lived to be 930; Noah 950, and Methuselah 969. But as sin worked itself into lives, their years of life became shorter and
shorter until in King David's time, God was allotting 70 years, more or less, to humans (Psalms 90:10). This varies
according to things like the care one gives to his or her body, but the average is there.
And the sins of this world
strike in many ways...the homosexual who would rather be "straight," as we say, but whose body has that built-in
from birth, is that way from sins handed down through the ages, and it's as unbelievably difficult to beat as drinking,
smoking, gambling, and other less terrible, but just as hard to break. There are attempts to find cures, but in some cases,
only God is the answer.
And so as kings and presidents go, so goes their nations, and they will be held accountable,
right along with their people who choose to take the ride. I see so many nations in trouble today, that there is fear of world
depression, that it may well be that we're living in the Book of Revelation. Your answer: Be ready, even to die for belief
in Jehovah and Jesus Christ, the only true, ever-living Gods.
Some of you have been having trouble,
getting to my website. I've arranged for you to go either to wwwbillthorntonconquests.com, or ".net"
I've noticed that it's better to use the address line at the top of the page, rather than one of the "search"
And remember that once you get it, you can right click on the open space and check "shortcut," and it
will put an icon on your desktop. Then all you have to do is double-click on that to bring up the site. Remember...you
can now ask for .com or .net email@example.com
I’ve noticed that some of my Conquest articles have taken on a new complexion since my wife
went to her new home. I don’t feel the same about passing from this life to the next. I like to use the
term “The Promise” that the Lord gives to everyone…that Christians will immediately be with loved
ones who’ve gone on, when our turn comes.
King David used that consolation we see in 2nd Samuel 12:23,
after his son by Bathsheba died; “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” And of course Jesus
showed the same comfort to us, as He hung on the Cross, when he told the thief hanging beside Him, who had become a believer
there, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
I’ve written about that in an earlier article, but for those of you who didn’t see it, I’ll give
my interpretation of those words by Christ. “Today” means now…assuring us that we won’t be
put in a waiting area until some time in the future. And “shalt thou be with me” means that He will go to
the same place with this person who’s dying at His side.
And the Bible clearly shows that the word “Paradise” and
“Heaven” are the same place. Revelation 2:7 is enough to convince us: “He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which
is in the paradise of God.” And the tree of life serves double duty, also indicating that we’ll eat the
best of foods in Heaven.
The only ones who
should fear death, are those of you who haven’t given your heart to the Lord. I beg you to take care of that,
at this very moment. It’s the only time you’re guaranteed.
