Think about it…today’s teenagers will be running the world in ten years
or so. Scary isn’t it, when you see their thinking now. A humorous but sorry story has made the rounds, that the police
like today’s style of guys wearing pants that bag to their knees, because it’s easier to catch them. And their
leaders are abandoning God
But take heart. There are many responsible youngsters
who are taking school and life seriously. Think back. In World War Two, kids as young as 18 were flying our bombers on raids
that could almost be called suicide runs. If they lived through 25 missions, they could be relieved. More failed to make it
than lived through 24. And the nearer they got to that magic number, the more frightening every mission became. Time after
time a bomber would go down on its 25th mission. The tension was unbelievable.
now, students at our Naval Academy no longer have to say "So help me God" in their oath of allegiance. The words
are optional after the Military Religious Freedom Foundation complained. The oath includes "I will not lie, steal or
cheat, nor tolerate anyone who does, so help me God." Naval cadets are required to take the oath once a year. That foundation
will see the time when they’ll rue the day, so help me God.
people feel safer, and tend to put off living the Christian life. But instead of facing a 25th mission, the result is death
without God. And the destination is worse than anything that can happen in a war. And the pity is that so few give serious
thought to the safeguard of the arms of Christ. Just as a bomber may be exploded at any moment, so the person on our highways
is inches from death, too, and must trust that other drivers are as careful as he. Obeying the speed limit and staying in
your lane is not enough when there are drivers coming at who may be on drugs or have been drinking. Typically, when a nation
quits God, He allows another nation to defeat them. When that happens to us, our options may be becoming slaves, servants,
or death. With death possibly being best.
The Christian is not
guaranteed safety from trouble or even tragedy. When our country goes down, we Christians will also bear the consequences.
Pray for our nation.
