|WORTH OF HIS HIRE
That title...Did I get it backward? Too many people think
that’s the way it should be. In fact, almost exactly half of this nation’s people are living on benefits from
the people who are working. The way you hear it, is that "the government" is supplying their needs and in some
cases, even their wants, ignoring the fact that the only money our government has, is from the taxes we pay, and pay, and
About a third of a worker’s
wages each year, go to a government who stays in office, largely because they buy votes by giving away that tax money to folks
who don’t work. Of course this give-away began, to take care of people who were in need, but were unable to work…the
invalid, the elderly, and others who simply couldn’t work, and it has evolved into many ways to live without working.
Latest figures show that 49.5 percent of Americans are living on all or part of subsistence from the government. You can’t
get much closer to half than that.
The Bible says, in First Timothy 5:8, "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house,
he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel." And an infidel is a non-Christian; an unbeliever. Not a good
thing, either in this life or the next.
what makes it more difficult, is that congress and the others in charge, want to keep it that way, for the popularity that
keeps them in power. Here’s another example. There was a time when congress voted each year on whether to accept a
raise or not. Then they got smart and voted that they would get the raises automatically…unless they voted NOT to.
How do you think that has worked.
And obviously this is why a presidential candidate that has no ties to the government, is so unpopular among congress and
the others who go hand in hand with them, who are trying everything they can think of, to keep that person from becoming president,
even though he’s far ahead among voters.
How often have I quoted "They have their reward." Frankly, I think they’re messing with legal sinning. May
God have mercy on them.
I’ve noticed that some of my Conquest articles have taken on a new complexion since my wife
went to her new home. I don’t feel the same about passing from this life to the next. I like to use the
term “The Promise” that the Lord gives to everyone…that Christians will immediately be with loved
ones who’ve gone on, when our turn comes.
King David used that consolation we see in 2nd Samuel 12:23,
after his son by Bathsheba died; “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” And of course Jesus
showed the same comfort to us, as He hung on the Cross, when he told the thief hanging beside Him, who had become a believer
there, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
I’ve written about that in an earlier article, but for those of you who didn’t see it, I’ll give
my interpretation of those words by Christ. “Today” means now…assuring us that we won’t be
put in a waiting area until some time in the future. And “shalt thou be with me” means that He will go to
the same place with this person who’s dying at His side.
And the Bible clearly shows that the word “Paradise” and
“Heaven” are the same place. Revelation 2:7 is enough to convince us: “He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which
is in the paradise of God.” And the tree of life serves double duty, also indicating that we’ll eat the
best of foods in Heaven.
The only ones who
should fear death, are those of you who haven’t given your heart to the Lord. I beg you to take care of that,
at this very moment. It’s the only time you’re guaranteed.
