Did you hear about the office worker who
was staring out the window when the boss walked in? He asked her why she was staring out the window, and she said, "I
didn’t see you coming."
Isn’t that like so many people who’ll be caught staring out the window when the Lord comes back for his people?
It seems that most ministers are warning us even more often, that there are so many signs of the times that indicate that
the time is almost here, but we can’t seem to get in gear for it.
Only Jehovah God knows the time it will happen…in Matthew 24:36, Jesus says, "But
of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." And First Thessalonians 4:16
through18 says, "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with
the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first (in their new bodies), Then we which are alive and remain shall
be caught up (which we call "the rapture"), shall be caught up together with them in the clouds; to meet the Lord
in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
Of course, Christians expect it, but there doesn’t
seem to be a true watch going on. There have been many forecasts, even down to the day it will happen, but they always turn
out to be wrong guesses. And my answer is that if Christ would come at that very time, the most surprised person on earth
would be the one that had set that date.
Meanwhile, we can’t stand outside, looking into the sky. That isn’t what Christ means by our watching…our
thing is to be ready spiritually…to be living as His Word, the Bible, tells us to live. Stand by as if you were a
soldier on the line, waiting for the moment. Loaded and ready.
