Ever have a parent…or even
the Lord...give you strange instructions? Let me tell you The Potato Story. Some of you may already have heard it, but let
me go through it...
was winter and the kids wanted to go ice skating, but Mother said, "Not til the potatoes are done." Well, of course
it was silly...none of the kids were hungry and there wasn't that much time before dark, after the chores were finished.
But they waited, and
Mom then wrapped two potatos for each of them, and put them in their coat pockets. So their hands stayed warm as they went
to the pond. And Mom instructed them to leave the potatoes in their street shoes while they skated.
And so when they got ready for home, lo and behold
the potatoes had warmed the toes of their shoes. And by that time they were hungry, so they ate the potatoes, and they tasted
like a banquet, after the skating had tired them.
That's enough said about Moms, but I'll add this: You've read or heard about Jesus feeding the 5,000 men, plus
women and children. As they considered the hungry crowd, Andrew, one of the disciples, said "There is a lad here, which
hath five barley loaves and two small fishes, but what are they among so many? (John 6:9). But Jesus had the disciples distribute
it and it fed the 5,000 and had 12 baskets of leftovers. That, of course, so there could be no question concerning the miracle's
the point: Who made that lunch for the little boy. It was a Mom, who was back home sweeping and cleaning and washing and
a thousand other chores with never a "thank you" expected! Christ goes by quality, not quantity. Mom, if you "just
sit" at church, you're just going above and beyond a Mother's Love in obeying the Lord. Be content in your Christianity.
Isn't it amazing
how smart your parents can be! And if you multiply that by a few zillion, you might realize a little of how smart God is.
With your faith and his ability, you're in a majority. And you can get on His side right now...just tell Him you're
ready to get on the winning side. If you mean it, He's waiting with open arms.
