|IF YOU CAN WALK, BE THANKFUL!

I have to admit that although I’ve read of
Jesus healing everyone from singles to multitudes when He was here on earth, and I’ve heard and read of healing all
over the world. And I’ve told you at another time of my Dad’s suffering for seven years with cancer and having
people praying for him from coast to coast, then being healed as he walked from a church altar to his seat in the pew, on
a day when he had to have help to get up, after kneeling at the altar. And of my brother being instantly healed after years
with a terrible back pain.
But with all that, especially while reading of healings in the Bible, I find myself thinking, why isn’t that happening
now. Well, check what a long time friend, and I’ll use his name, Leroy Welch, told us at church this morning (at the
time of this writing, of course).
He gave the name of one of his daughters who lives in Tennessee where she‘s a teacher. And after a long bout with being
very overweight, she got that under control, but not before her knees were ruined. She could walk, but carefully, and on
this particular morning she was in the choir, when God told her to go to the altar. She went, then God put the words in her
mind to "kneel down." But, as if she had to remind Him, she said, "But God…you know I can’t kneel.
And he told her again, to "kneel down." And so she did, then God said, "NEW KNEES," and immediately
she felt His healing power, and she rose up with no pain and no problem!
Yes…after her Dad told us about this healing during the past week, I had to ask the
Lord to forgive me for my weakness, in wondering "why those healings don’t happen any more." Because they
do. Not only off in some other continent, to someone whose name isn’t given, by someone who told someone about it.
Here was a healing from a long-time Christian, about his own daughter, in the past week, as he told it. Folks…God
still heals today!
I’ve noticed that some of my Conquest articles have taken on a new complexion since my wife
went to her new home. I don’t feel the same about passing from this life to the next. I like to use the
term “The Promise” that the Lord gives to everyone…that Christians will immediately be with loved
ones who’ve gone on, when our turn comes.
King David used that consolation we see in 2nd Samuel 12:23,
after his son by Bathsheba died; “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” And of course Jesus
showed the same comfort to us, as He hung on the Cross, when he told the thief hanging beside Him, who had become a believer
there, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
I’ve written about that in an earlier article, but for those of you who didn’t see it, I’ll give
my interpretation of those words by Christ. “Today” means now…assuring us that we won’t be
put in a waiting area until some time in the future. And “shalt thou be with me” means that He will go to
the same place with this person who’s dying at His side.
And the Bible clearly shows that the word “Paradise” and
“Heaven” are the same place. Revelation 2:7 is enough to convince us: “He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which
is in the paradise of God.” And the tree of life serves double duty, also indicating that we’ll eat the
best of foods in Heaven.
The only ones who
should fear death, are those of you who haven’t given your heart to the Lord. I beg you to take care of that,
at this very moment. It’s the only time you’re guaranteed.
