One of the dodges people use is the "white lie."
And so the question arises as to how to make it work. For example is it ok to tell a "white lie," when applying
for a job.
Sorry. According to the
Bible, if it isn’t true, it’s a lie. Here’s my take on that. If you’re applying for a job and the
questionaire gets too touchy, tell that owner or manager that you won’t lie for yourself here, and you won’t lie
to him, on the job. Then spill it, and you may be surprised at how it impresses him.
God loves truth and hates the lie. In Proverbs 12:22, Solomon said, "Lying
lips are abomination to the Lord; but they that deal truly are His delight." And even the book of Revelation finds it
important enough to be listed in 22:15; "For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters,
and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."
first sin recorded in the Bible was when the serpent told Eve she would not die by disobeying God. Of course, as I’ve
talked in an earlier Conquest article, the serpent was ignoring the time factor; that although she wouldn’t die immediately,
she would die eventually. It’s possible that this is where we came up with the "white lie."
But to make one more point; the lie is even included in the Ten
Commandments. The ninth says, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against they neighbor. And you know what the Bible
says about who is your neighbor.
as my Mom always said, "Tell the truth, if it takes the hide."
