Joel Osteen told in one of his sermons, how he prays each morning. He said he thanks the Lord for His night's rest, and asks for His wisdom to help him through the new day, and he reads a portion from his Bible. And he said the Lord blesses him for his attitude.
And you know... I was surprised that my morning prayer is almost a carbon copy of his! Neither of us asks for a bigger house or a better car or other things, but both of us get a blessing, and we accept the day, satisfied.
Joel quoted Proverbs 3:6; "In all thy ways acknowledge the Lord, and He shall direct thy paths." That's Proverbs 3:6, and I accept that, too.
Being a Christian, I don't fear death... even less now that there's someone extra special, as well as my parents and a brother, waiting. There are bumps in the road, of course. I'm writing this in 2019, but the year 2018 was the saddest of my 90 years. But I prayed to God that He cover my sadness with gladness, and to help me to keep a clear mind so I can continue the Calling He has given me. We work as a team on that: He gives me the words and I put them into my computer website.
And I thank Him in more ways than you can imagine. That I can button my shirt, and put on my socks, and drive my car to church and to do responsibilities He has given me. You may have seen my "Thorntonism," that we should tell Him "thanks" as often as we ask for favors. He likes for us to show our appreciation, although anything we can say won't begin to cover His dying on a cross and shedding His blood to cover our sins, then rising to make salvation a reality in our lives. Chris is alive; live for Him.
May I add a request for the rest of the world to pray for the people caught in the historic flooding in this country that could lead to many deaths. Thank you, World.
