I have concerns where the Bible mentions rewards in Heaven. There are a number of them; one is Matthew 5:12, "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." I can't see that I have any medals waiting, but I wonder how putting some above others can be done without envy or jealous developing. I'd be embarrassed if my name was next to Paul's.
I've talked about this at another time, about hearing a sermon spent entirely on the various grades of awards that will be given. I picture them from "perfect attendance" to "valedictorian" level. Whatever God has planned, it will be right. I remember when I was a Boy Scout, I believe I'm right, that awards ran from 3rd class, 2nd class, 1st class, Star, Life, and Eagle. I made it to the "Life" level before I grew out of the organization. Got a girl friend, probably.
Matthew 16:27 says, "For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will repay every man according to his works." I'm sure the word "works" has to do with our Christianity after we're save. It's our sins before becoming Christians that God will forget.
But I find myself wondering about a farmer hiring men for a small amount for the day, and kept hiring more at various times during the entire day, and at the end of the day, paid all the same amounts. The early birds complained, but the boss reminded that they had agreed on payment, and he had the right to do whatever he wanted.
Yes, God will do whatever is right. And may I never complain about those who have given their very lives, in living for the Lord!
