A Life Worth Saving?
How do you think you'd feel, if you were facing death, and someone stepped up, to take your place. Like a son on the boards to be hung, and his father stepping up to tell them that he, the father, was the guilty one. A Dad, willing to die, so his son could live, marry, and have a family. We can't imagine even a son, allowing such a thing. But "what if."
Jesus did that for you. Giving His life for you was pre-planned before the foundation of the world! (1st Peter 1:20). God set it up at the beginning of time, and that's why you see in several places in the Bible that those jealous religious leaders who wanted to kill him, couldn't work it out "because His time was not yet come." It's true. It was God's plan from the beginning to send his Son to die on the cross for the sins of mankind. Before He laid the foundations of the world, He already knew that man would sin and perish without His help. Therefore He already prepared a plan of Salvation, a way to have your sins forgiven and a Way for you to make Heaven, instead of getting what you deserve.
And we know Jesus was in human form while He was here among us, because although He knew that He was here to die for even one of us, He prayed to God three times, as the Cross beckoned, "Oh my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt" (Matthew chapter 26, verse 39).
You can pay Him back. I say again, "He died for you--you live for Him." He’ll settle for that, and love you still. He figures you're worth it.
